Where are you located? Virginia
How long have you been a baldie? I've been a baldie for 7years. I go back and forth between bald and fades. However, bald is where my heart is & I feel my most beautiful.
What made you decided to cut your hair? My hair wasn't healthy and was experiencing breakage from constantly relaxing and putting heat on my hair.
How did you prepare yourself for your first hair cut? I went out and purchased a wig just in case I had a funny shaped head underneath my hair! Lol. I told my family what I was going to do whether they supported me or not. From there I did the big chop.
What’s the funniest thing someone told you about being a baldie? The funniest thing that I have been told is that I won't look feminine & that people will question my sexuality. That's just it...I'm not here to please anyone else but my maker & I am totally confident in myself as well as my sexuality.
What is your biggest challenge being a baldie? With short hair, keeping a handle on these GREYS is the biggest challenge for me! They are so disrespectful & have the nerve to be visible a week after color.
Being a Baldie means to you? For me, being a baldie is empowering. It leaves nothing to the imagination when it comes to a woman’s natural beauty because you are not hiding behind wigs or hair extensions.
Any tips for anyone that is trying to go bald? Stop thinking about it and don’t be concerned with what other people are going say. Just do it. It's only hair & it doesn’t define you or your beauty.
